All rose colors carry a significance, and the yellow rose is no exception. I love a true, deep yellow rose. For some reason, I never expect them to have much of a scent, but there are many very fragrant varieties.

Those last couple might surprise you. Historically, yellow things in nature were often associated with the sun. The sun was often seen as a powerful source. In addtion, in some areas of Europe in older times, the yellow rose had a much more negative meaning. When it was first introduced, It would be displayed by jealous lovers or to show a dying relationship. However, it most cultures now it has a much more positive meaning, usually based around friendship or happiness.
A yellow rose bouquet is a good choice if you just want to convey friendship, without going into the "romantic zone". Definitely an option if you have a platonic friend of the opposite sex. If you want to keep things as friends, you can even include the meaning so that there are no hard feelings! However, yellow roses with red tips can mean friendship turning into something more. Most people probably won't pick up on it without an explanation, but just keep that in mind if you are getting them sent to a flower expert who might know the meaning of yellow roses with red tips.
Similar to the pink roses, they are a nice neutral pick when you don't know the person that well. They could easily go to a colleague or recent graduate just as easily as a wife or spouse. Of course, for the romantic meanings, you're probably better off going with the trusty red rose bouquet. The meaning of that is always clear.
