Rose Coloring Pages

Rose coloring pages are a great, fun activity for kids, especially on a rainy day. They can be fun for the adults who are young at heart too!:) I've included a couple of free pictures you can open or save and print out.

You can easily create these from your own photos or pictures too! I'll show you how to do it in Photoshop CS3. These steps should work in most versions of that software.

First, open the photo in Photoshop. You'll want to resize it to a reasonable size for paper. Most coloring books are 8.5 by 11, so make it smaller than that to fit on the printed page.

Next, you'll need to create a duplicate layer. Go to the Menu up at the top and go to Layer->New-> Duplicate with copy.

Next, you'll need to alter the picture to make it black and white and add borders. You'll have to play around with the settings under the filter. Under the menu again browse to the Filter menu, then sketch and Photocopy. You want to play with the Detail and Darkness settings. Reduce them down so you can see the outline of the rose, but the interior shading is left white.

Lastly, we'll adjust the interior of the photos under the levels. Exit from the filter, and go under your Menue to Layers and New Adjustment Layer, then to Levels. Under the Graph chart, adjust the left arrow to the right and right arrow to the left until there is a good contrast for the lines and the shape can be seen. You can then save and print it out.
